Her legendary career jump started when Stevie Wonder penned the now classic “Tell Me Something Good” for Chaka when she was lead singer of the R&B, Funk band Rufus in 1974. Both the song and the album, Rags To Rufus, topped the charts, were certified Gold and won the Grammy that year for Best R&B Vocal Performance.

After six albums with Rufus nearly all of which went Gold or Platinum, in 1978 Chaka Khan started her solo career releasing the all-time classic “I’m Every Woman” (Ashford and Simpson). Produced by iconic songwriter, arranger, producer, and executive Arif Mardin, the single and the album, Chaka, cemented Chaka Kahn as a force that was about to take over popular music.

After incredible success both solo and collaborative, in 1984 Chaka released the iconic album I Feel For You. MIKE PHILLIPS RELEASES SINGLE “lift every voice and sing” in honor of juneteenth…

In commemoration of this year's annual Juneteenth celebration and it’s status as an official National Holiday, it was only fitting that Mike Phillips released his rendition of this classic song. "If we truly listen to this song and take heed to the words, it can be a road map to fairness and equality, which can only lead to a better America for everyone," mentions Mike Phillips. This powerful masterpiece was written by J. Rosamond Johnson and James Weldon Johnson and produced by Hamilton Hardin and arranged by Mike Phillips and Hamilton Hardin.

In June 2020 after an incident that caused NASCAR to take a close look at themselves and the imagery that surrounds the fans and events, Mike was invited to perform the National Anthem as he has done for dozens of NBA, NFL and NHL games over the years. What they did not expect was Mike with West Byrd accompanying him on piano extending the anthem to include snippets of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” also known as the Black National Anthem at the start and end of the iconic song. This peaceful act of defiance was quickly observed by black NASCAR fans around the country and shared on social media while many other fans were left scratching their heads wondering what they had just witnessed. "When I snuck the song into the NASCAR performance of the anthem, I was kind of outraged that the executives didn't recognize it. But, it served as the perfect educational moment about the existence of the song and the importance of it and its historical context," adds Mike.

Her legendary career jump started when Stevie Wonder penned the now classic “Tell Me Something Good” for Chaka when she was lead singer of the R&B, Funk band Rufus in 1974. Both the song and the album, Rags To Rufus, topped the charts, were certified Gold and won the Grammy that year for Best R&B Vocal Performance.

After six albums with Rufus nearly all of which went Gold or Platinum, in 1978 Chaka Khan started her solo career releasing the all-time classic “I’m Every Woman” (Ashford and Simpson). Produced by iconic songwriter, arranger, producer, and executive Arif Mardin, the single and the album, Chaka, cemented Chaka Kahn as a force that was about to take over popular music.

After incredible success both solo and collaborative, in 1984 Chaka released the iconic album I Feel For You. The title track, a cover of a Prince song, was a gigantic pop hit on the radio and MTV and earned Chaka her second Grammy Award as a solo artist for Best R&B Vocal Performance. Alongside being a top selling chart topper, the song made history by being the first R&B song to feature a rap which was performed by Grand Master Melle Mel. That kind of forward thinking always kept Chaka Khan one step ahead of and praised by her peers. The late, great Miles Davis often said, “She [Chaka] sings like my horn.” And the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin said, “[Chaka] is a one- of- a -kind, premier vocalist.”

Alongside the hit albums and singles, Chaka Khan has appeared on stage and screen in such standout productions as The Blue Brothers movie, The Color Purple on Broadway, and Signed, Sealed, and Delivered a musical based on the music of her friend Stevie Wonder.

Billboard chart-topping Singer and Songwriter J. Brown is all set to go with his long-awaited debut album, aptly titled “Chapter & Verse”.

in anticipation of the upcoming May 20 release, Brown has released the single “My Queen”. "My Queen", is the latest song to be released from the, "Chapter & Verse".. “My Queen, is about celebrating the woman in a man’s life and reminding her that she is his everything to him. She holds him down through the good and bad and he wants her to know. Behind every great man, there is a great queen that makes that man feel special and we wanted to capture on this song,” mentions J. Brown. "My Queen" was written by Carvin Haggins, Thomas "TC" Clay, Johnnie (Smurf) Smith, Darrell Robinson, Rayfield Holloman, Aaron Draper and Dewayne Moore and produced by Carvin Haggins and Johnnie (Smurf) Smith.

Another banger from J. Brown’s forthcoming album is the Billboard Magazine chart-topping single, "Don’t Rush" by J. Brown featuring Tank as its the #20 R&B Song in the country this week, according to Billboard.com. This marks J. Brown’s 5th Top 20 Billboard R&B song in the last 3 years. "Don’t Rush", was written by Tank and Travis Bruce and produced by Brian Vincent Bates. "When Tank called me and said he had a record that would be perfect for us to do, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to do it. This was the chance I had been waiting for to work with my idol," he shares. "Tank is my absolute favorite artist and this was a dream come true to be in the studio with him again. Don't Rush spoke to both of us as its a sexy sensual song that we thought women around the world would love to hear from us,"

Back in April, J. Brown teased music lovers with the release of the visuals for "Simpin'" to rave reviews. "Simpin’'" was written by written and produced by Jake Krumm and Jared Krumm. "I fell in love with this track the moment I heard it," mentions J. Brown. "The thought of telling your lady or man that you miss them in a somewhat slang kind of word, would make them chuckle and make them miss you too and it reminds you that missing someone is the same in any language," he adds. The music video was directed by Haitianev.
