Vevo recently announced Queen Naija as their newest LIFT artist of 2018. Vevo’s LIFT initiative connects today’s rising stars to audiences around the globe with original creative content. Vevo will release two performance pieces as well as “Becoming,” a short film which allows artists to tell their story in a unique way, bringing fans closer to Queen Naija than ever before. Premiering today, Queen’s performance of “Butterflies” comes fresh off the release of her self-titled debut EP. “Butterflies” sees the breakout R&B singer exploring the idea of finding love after heartbreak, and now with Vevo, the song is visually re-imagined for her fans.
As a little girl growing up outside Detroit, Queen Naija started singing in church at the age of three and writing her own songs in third grade. Although she kept up with her singing and songwriting as she got older—and even cut a few records in a local studio—her focus shifted when she and her former husband found fame online with their wildly popular YouTube channel. But when their marriage fell apart last year, Queen returned to her lifelong passion and released a powerfully unapologetic single that shares her side of the story.
Queen Naija’s North American headline tour kicks off October 29 at National in Richmond, VA, and rolls through major markets across the United States through December.
